I am currently the Director of Business Development for Altman-Charter Company.  With more than 16 years of experience in the construction industry I am responsible for client growth in new markets by creating and implementing a strategic business plan to develop new partnerships in multiple markets.  Since being promoted to Director in 2019 I have created many opportunities for Altman-Charter which have been instrumental to the successful growth of the company.  I continue to leverage my knowledge and experience to collaborate and brainstorm with our project team to ensure each of our clients expectations are met, their experience is exceptional, and the project is delivered successfully.

What led you to want to join the St. Louis Chapter of SMPS?
In 2019 I was promoted to Director and quickly realized I wanted to add my own professional touch to our marketing material.  Fast forward to 2022 I have attempted to redesign the bulk of our marketing material without any marketing background, knowledge, expertise, etc.  I had attended 1 or 2 SMPS events over the past few years and found the organization, the people, and the content of the material they provide to be a key to ones success.  A colleague had previously mentioned the scholarship to me knowing that I had been interested in the organization.  I submitted my application and was awarded the scholarship.  Being awarded the scholarship has provided me the resources and opportunity to learn from my colleagues, grow my professional network, and expand my marketing knowledge and skills.

Since joining the chapter, what have you been able to attend and gain? What are you hoping to achieve through your membership in the future?
My first meeting as a member of SMPS was a coffee with Alec Gleason with Toky.  I then entered a team in the 1st annual Pickleball tournament (nope I had never played, but my competitive nature couldn’t pass up a good challenge 😊).  Although we didn’t win, when I commit to something I’m all in and our uniforms were winners in my book!

Can you share with our members any networking or business development tips that have helped in your career’s success?
Have a plan, set goals, and always stay positive.

What do you enjoy move about your position? What do you enjoy least?
I honestly love the process.  Building that trustworthy relationship to bring the clients thoughts and vision to a reality.  Sometimes that process is slow and can present challenges that are out of my control.

If you were not in this industry, what would be your ‘dream job’?
I’ve always looked up to my dad who spent his entire career in the construction industry, so I honestly think if I wasn’t in my current role I would most likely just be somewhere else in the industry.

What do you look forward to most at the end of a busy week?
At the end of a busy week I look forward to spending time with my family.  You can most likely find me at a soccer game for at least one of my 3 kids, they keep me very busy.
