Specifically, our firm provides full-service engineering for various building projects for many private and government clients.  Projects that show our depth of building engineering include the Manchester Parks, Recreation, and Arts Office and the Chemical Building Renovation in Downtown St. Louis.

Parks, Recreation, and Arts Office | City of Manchester, Missouri

Horner & Shifrin performed surveying services, as well as structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and civil engineering design services for the expansion and renovation of the Parks and Recreation Administration Building in Manchester, Missouri.  The design included a partial demolition of the existing building, a 4,000 square foot, two story addition for a garage and maintenance space and a 10,000 square foot addition housing conference rooms, an activity space/multipurpose room, and offices for the Parks and Recreation Department.

Chemical Building Renovation | Restoration St. Louis

Horner & Shifrin is providing full services structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and civil engineering for the renovation of the 158,000 square foot, 17 story, Chemical Building in Downtown St. Louis.  The building is on the historic register.  Built in 1896 with a 1902 addition, the building originally housed the Chemical Bank and was later used for office space.  This project consists of converting the building to hotel space as an expansion of the adjacent Hotel Saint Louis.  Horner & Shifrin's design services included repair of deteriorated concrete, masonry, and flooring elements, structural design for new stairs and elevators, the addition of a rooftop restaurant, repair of the historic cast iron stair, and other structural requirements for the renovation, as well as mechanical, electrical and plumbing upgrades to the building.  H&S completed a detailed 3D laser scan of the building prior to design, to determine existing field dimensions.

Horner & Shifrin has focused on alternate project delivery to save our clients time and money by collaborating with contractors and other design consultants to streamline the process.  Some of our notable projects using the design-build delivery method include five projects for the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) and a New Water Treatment Plant for the City of Crystal City, Missouri.
